LEST WE FORGET 253 RICHARDS (SELINGER), Katharina WWII Katharina was born on November 4, 1922. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division in April 1942. She served in Toronto, Ontario for six weeks at a Boot Camp in 1942; Telephone Operator in Brandon, Manitoba in June 1942; went to Gander, NL via Halifax in July 1942; remustered to Code and Cypher in December 1942; took a cypher course in Guelph, Ontario from January 1943 to February 1943; Pacific Headquarters fromVancouver to Prince Rupert, BC; Ottawa RCAF Headquarters in October 1943; St. John’s, NL in July 1944; Halifax Headquarters in July 1945; and Regina, Saskatchewan. She was discharged in October 1945 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-1945. Katharina passed away on January 27, 2006. ROBERTSON, Hugh Patrick Lumsden WWI Hugh was born in Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on March 4, 1885. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on October 26, 1914, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, serving in Canada, Britain and France. He was killed in action on June 6, 1916, while serving in France with the 28th Battalion. He received the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal. RICHARDS, Raymond Raymond was born on June 6, 1955. His service includes: Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, BC from 1973 to 1975; Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario from 1975 to 1977 where he graduated with a BEng (Mech); Tank and Reece Troop Leader with the Royal Canadian Dragoons on NATO service in CFB Lahr, West Germany from 1977 to 1980; Tank Gunnery and Tactics instructor at the Royal Canadian Armoury School in Gagetown, NB from 1980 to 1984; Tank Squadron Battle Captain with the Royal Canadian Dragoons on NATO service in CFB Lahr, West Germany from 1984 to 1986; Canadian High Commission in London, England (6 months) and Royal Military College of Science in Shrivenham, Wiltshire, England from 1987 to 1988; Squadron Commander, The Royal Canadian Dragoons, CFB Petawawa, Ontario including six months as Commander of UN Peacekeeping Troops responsible for the city of Nicosia, Cyprus from 1988 to 1990; Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto, Ontario from 1990 to 1991; Operations Officer for Canadian Forces Europe Headquarters, CFB Lahr, West Germany from 1991 to 1993. Raymond retired in January 1994.
