LEST WE FORGET 243 RAMAGE, Lawrence Hunter WWII Lawrence was born in 1925 in Regina and went straight from high school into the Royal Canadian Air Force in Saskatoon less than a year before his death. Warrant Officer 2 Lawrence Hunter Ramage (RCAF air gunner) of Star City died on October 20, 1943, and is buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery near London, England. His Wellington caught fire and crashed at Basingstoke, Hampshire during a training flight from No. 29 Operational Training Unit. He was the son of Pringle William, a barber, and Effie Christina (Lennon) Ramage. RANDALL, Florence WWII Florence was born in Hanley, Saskatchewan. She enlisted in the Navy in 1943, serving in Halifax. She married Ed Brotheridge and lived in Waskada, Manitoba. She passed away in 1974. RAMSHAW, Arthur Charles Edward “Art” WWII Arthur was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan on February 18, 1918. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in fall 1940, at age 22 and went to Regina for training. In spring 1941 he was sent overseas where he survived ground action in Europe. At the end of the war in 1945, he met Betty Stitchbury at a dance in England. They married at an Anglican Church in Thundersley on December 22, 1945. In spring 1946, Art was discharged from service and sent home. Art received the French Medal for bravery and was knighted. He went to Chicago on his way back to visit his mother, Ida, and then came by train back to Canada. Art is a sixty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 290 in Nokomis. Art received a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth for reaching his milestone 100th birthday. On February 18, 2023, Arthur celebrated his 105th birthday.
