LEST WE FORGET 221 PATTERSON, Clyde WWII Clyde was born in Woodstock, Ontario, on May 5, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in 1941, and received his training in Regina, Dundurn and Whitehorse, Yukon. He went overseas on August 26, 1943, with the Lake Superior Regiment. He took infantry training in the United Kingdom and served as a general duty rifleman. On September 10, 1944, Clyde was wounded in action in Belgium and was returned to his unit for further action after his recovery. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal 19391945. Clyde had married Mary Murray on September 14, 1942, and they raised six children. He was discharged on March 15, 1946, and took up farming. Clyde passed away in July 1979, at age 60. PEARCE, William J. WWII William was born in Watrous, Saskatchewan, on December 22, 1912. He enlisted with the Saskatoon Light Infantry in December 1939, and served in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Holland and Germany. He was discharged in April 1946. Bill passed away on March 31, 1993. PATTERSON, John Henry WWII John was born in Saskatchewan on January 22, 1918. He joined the Army OC #12 A District Depot C A (A) and served in Canada and the North Atlantic Area. He was a cook and burnt his hands from the lye used for cleaning. He operated a large gun with two other fellows. His suitcase was stolen from his home in Brancepeth with his war belongings and keepsakes. John passed away on April 1, 2008, at the age of ninety.
