He joined the Regina Rifles as a Rifleman and served in France and Germany. He was killed in action in France on June 11, 1944, at age 29, and is buried in Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery near Reviers, Calvados, France. McWILLIAMS, Ira WWII Ira was born in Invergordon, Saskatchewan, in 1925. He joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment, serving in England and France. He was killed in action on August 15, 1944, at age 19, and is buried at Brettville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Ira was the brother of Sandy, George, Clifford, and Gilbert, who was killed in action in Sicily during World War II. They were the sons of William and Margaret McWilliams. McWILLIAMS, Gilbert WWII Gilbert was born in 1921. He joined the Royal Edmonton Regiment and served in England, Sicily and Italy. He was killed in action in Sicily on August 5, 1943, at age 22, and is buried at Agira Canadian War Cemetery near Regalbuto, Sicily, Italy. Gilbert was the brother of George, Clifford, Sandy, and Ira, all sons of William and Margaret McWilliams. Gilbert’s brother, Ira, was also killed in action in France during World War II.
