LEST WE FORGET 173 MacDONELL, Donald Ross RCMP Cst. Donald MacDonell was born in Alberta. He enlisted on March 9, 1928, and served in the Manitoba RCMP D Division. Donald passed away on April 19, 1931, at Fourteen River (Hudson Bay), at the age of 22. MACKENZIE, Kenneth Fraser WWII Kenneth was born in Pennant, Saskatchewan, on April 30, 1918. He enlisted in the Army in 1940, and served overseas until the end of the war. He was wounded in Belgium in September 1944. After the war, he returned to Ontario and worked a farm that he purchased until his love for the west got the best of him and he returned to Saskatchewan. He lived in the Swift Current area working as a farm labourer until his death from a heart attack on February 2, 1970, at age 51. Ken is buried in a Soldier’s Plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. MacGILLIVRAY, Neil Edward WWII Neil was born in 1919 in Hazenmore, Saskatchewan, to William and Jessie MacGillivray. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina on June 15, 1941, and trained in Brandon, Manitoba #2 Manning Depot, SFTS Claresholm, AB, and Winnipeg for Wireless School training as a Wireless Air Gunner. He was posted at Gaspe, QC, where he did four months of ground duty, then to Mountain View BDG School in 1943 for a refresher course, and to Greenwood, NS, and theY Depot Halifax until 1943, and then on to Torbay, NL. Neil married Jean Black of Winnipeg on February 8, 1944, and had two sons and one daughter. He passed away on January 25, 1991. Jean passed away on December 16, 2002, at Mont St. Joseph in Prince Albert.
