LEST WE FORGET 161 LINNELL, Lyman “Jerry” WWII Lyman was born in Keatley, Saskatchewan, on March 31, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in 1941, serving in Canada. He was discharged in 1943 for medical reasons. He passed away on July 7, 1998. LOCKE, Elmer Vernon WWII Elmer was born in Aiktow, Saskatchewan, in 1923 and joined the 1st Battalion Kings Own Rifles of Canada, serving in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He passed away in 1995. LISSEL, Herman Rudolph WWII Herman was born in Dafoe, Saskatchewan, in 1920, the seventh in a family of eight. He attended Horton School and took air frame in Regina, and then joined the Air Force and served in Canada. Upon his discharge, he took agriculture at the University of Saskatoon and farmed until ill health forced him into the hardware business in a MacLeod store in Herbert, Saskatchewan. He married and had four children. Herman passed away in 1980.
