LEST WE FORGET 159 LINFITT, Victor WWII Victor was born in 1916 to William and Sevella Linfitt in the Fanford district north of Birch Hills. He joined the Army in 1941, and served with the 5th Armoured Division in the Mediterranean. Victor’s brothers, Jock and Roger, and his sister, Katie, also served in World War II. He was discharged in 1945. In 1946, he started farming and married Evelyn McKinnon. They had seven children, and at the age of 35, Evelyn and her infant son passed away. Victor married Eunice Penner in 1964. He passed away in 2002, at the age of 86. LINNELL, Howard WWII Howard was born in Keatley, Saskatchewan, on January 27, 1923. He joined the Queen’s Own Rifles in 1943, serving in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Holland. He was killed in action on April 5, 1945. He received the War Medal 1939-1945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. LINNELL, Charles Henry WWII Charles was born in the Keatley, Saskatchewan District, on June 1, 1912. He enlisted with the RCAF Motor Transport 418th Squadron in 1940, serving in Canada and England. He was discharged in 1945, and received the War Medal 1939-1945. He passed away on March 7, 2002. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Speers Branch 116 for 56 years.
