LEST WE FORGET 137 KERGOAT, Jean-Pierre “Peter” WWII Peter was born in Plonevez-Porzay, France in 1909 and joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry from 1939 to 1946. After being dispatched to the United Kingdom, he served on the frontlines in Italy and Sicily and was part of the Canadian Forces involved with the liberation of Holland. Peter received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star and the France and Germany Star. After the war, he settled and raised a family in North Battleford, SK. He passed away in 2004. He was a member of the SK Hosp. N. Branch #349 for 59 years. KINDRACHUK, William F. WWII William was born in Sokal, Saskatchewan, on September 2, 1926. He enlisted in the Army in 1941, serving as Private with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He paid the ultimate sacrifice on October 2, 1944, and is buried at the Bergen-opZoom Canadian Cemetery in the Netherlands. William was the sixth of eight siblings born to Fred and Paraska Kindrachuk. He attended Sokal School until grade 8, when he quit to assist his parents on the farm until his enlistment with the Army. KINDRACHUK, Dymtro F. WWII Dymtro was born in St. Julian, Saskatchewan, on August 13, 1915. He joined the Army in 1942, training in Regina and then shipped overseas to serve in Italy among other postings until 1945. Upon his return, he resumed farming and in November 1946, he married Stella Feduniw and they were blessed with one daughter and three sons. They farmed 6 miles north of Wakaw for a number of years, then sold the farm and moved to Prince Albert, gaining employment with Mann Motors until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, puttering around his garage, and collecting and selling scrap metal. He passed away in 1989, at age 73, and rests in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Prince Albert.
