LEST WE FORGET 113 HEIMARK, Conrad WWII Conrad was born in Hammar, North Dakota, USA, in 1915. He enlisted with the Canadian Army #22 Canadian Provost Company on October 16, 1941. He served 22 months of regimental duties as a Military Policeman, and 24 months as a traffic control policeman. He served active duty in Belgium, France, Holland and Germany. He was discharged on December 18, 1945, to return to civil life after demobilization. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and the War Medal 1939-1945. He married Annie Derak and raised three sons and one daughter. He passed away on September 12, 1997, due to a massive heart attack and was laid to rest on September 16, 1997 in the Collins Cemetery, Beechy, SK, alongside his parents. HEIN, Jacob “Jake” WWII Jake was born on December 31, 1925 in Warman, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on October 13, 1944 and served in Canada until April 15, 1946. After his discharge from the military, Jake bought his own trucking business. Later he worked for the DND Cold Lake Air Base as an airplane refueler in the summer and as a heavy equipment operator in the winter until 1983, the year he passed away on October 1. HEIMARK, Harry WWII Harry was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan, on October 4, 1923. At the age of twenty, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces with the 48th Highlanders of Canada, serving overseas from 1943 to 1945. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, as well as the War Medal 1939-1945. Upon his arrival back to Canada, Harry attended the University of Regina, where he obtained his Civil Engineer Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a master in city planning and worked for the City of Regina. Harry was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, and he spent his last remaining years in the Veteran’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. He passed away on September 13, 1988, after a courageous battle with cancer. Harry has been laid to rest with his parents in the Collins Cemetery. He will always be loved and remembered.
