LEST WE FORGET 111 HARDER, Abraham “Abe” WWII & KOREA Abe was born in Herbert, Shamrock, Saskatchewan, the son of Jacob and Katarina. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served overseas from 1941 to 1946 during World War II. He reenlisted as a medical orderly from 1951 to 1954 and served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. Abe was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Central Butte Branch, Lions Member, and Scouts and Cubs leader. HAYES, Phillip Edward WWII Phillip was born in Yellowgrass, Saskatchewan on January 17, 1920. He grew up on a farm east of Prince Albert and was one of ten children of William and Lenora Hayes. Five of their older children volunteered to serve Canada at the start of the war. Their five remaining children were too young to enlist. Phillip, Bill, and Glen served overseas, and Cecil and Viola served in Canada. He served in the Army with the Westminster Regiment in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Central Mediterranean during World War II from September 24, 1941 to January 9, 1946 and was overseas from January 1943 to December 1945. Phillip passed away on November 4, 1992. HAWRYLIW, Nick WWII Nick was born in Glaslyn on December 2, 1917. He served in the Army as a Sergeant with the Royal Regina Rifles in Canada, England and France. He landed at Juno Beach on June 6, 1944, and was wounded at Caen, France. He was badly wounded and transported back to Canada on the Queen Mary. Nick passed away on February 21, 1965.
