The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 97 CAIRNS, Thomas Reginald WWII Thomas was born on August 19, 1922. He joined the Canadian Army in May 1942 and served as a Private in the Infantry until August 1945. Wounded in action in Italy in 1943, Thomas was taken prisoner in September of that year and interned at Stalag 97A near Munich. CALDER, Gordon Alexander WWII Gordon was born in 1917 and his parents homesteaded near Watrous before moving to the Nipawin area in 1933. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Pilot Officer with 98 Squadron in World War II. He was shot down over Bologne on May 13, 1943 and is buried in the Bologne Eastern Cemetery in Pasde-Calais in France. CALDER, Russell Hugh WWII Russell was born in 1918. He joined the Army during World War II and served as CSM with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps from 1941 to 1945. Russell passed away in 1984.
