The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 83 BROWN (HEGGIE), Elizabeth M. WWII Elizabeth was born in 1916 on the family farm near Demaine, Saskatchewan. She went to school at Bernard and Lucky Lake School and took a secretarial course at Success Business College. Elizabeth enlisted in the RCAF in December 1942 and took her basic training in Toronto, Ontario. She was then posted to Ontario, Saskatchewan then to Alberta and Manitoba. Corporal Heggie was discharged in February 1946. That same year, Elizabeth married Bill Brown who passed away in September 1988. She lived in their home until she found that she could no longer look after the yard then moved to Lucky Lake for a while before moving back to Beechy to the Personal Care Home. Elizabeth’s last three months were spent in Kyle and Lucky Lake health centers. She was a member of Beechy Legion Branch 324 for fifty-three years before she passed away in 2014. BROWN, Frank Stanley WWII Frank joined the Army in 1939 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery as a Private until he was discharged in 1945. BROWN, Herbert H. “Bert” WWI Bert was born in 1899. He joined the Royal Irish Rifles, 12th Battalion, and served from 1914 to 1918. Bert passed away on July 15, 1943.
