The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 81 BROCKMAN, Victor Albert WWII Victor was born on May 14, 1921. He joined the Army in 1942 and was sent overseas in 1943, serving as a Gunner with the Royal Canadian Artillery in Italy, Holland and Belgium. After returning to Canada in 1945, he worked in the Inco mines in Sudbury, Ontario then returned to Saskatchewan in 1950 with his wife Marie. In 1952, he went to Nipawin where he worked at Neufeld Seeds until his retirement in 1986. Victor passed away on September 25, 2009. BROWN, Donald Nicholas PEACETIME Donald was born on November 25, 1935. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on March 31, 1954 and served as Leading Aircraftman in the Regular Force, Fighter Control, Operator Group 3, until he passed away in 1985. BROWN, Douglas WWII Douglas joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a Signalman on HMCS Sorel on the high seas during World War II. They escorted ships halfway across the Atlantic to the “Black Pit” where British escorts took over. He was at sea outside Halifax the night the last Canadian ship was sunk by a German U-boat. He spent the night recovering bodies and survivors.
