The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 67 BLONDEAU, Walter Raymond WWII Walter joined the Army and served as a Private with the South Saskatchewan Regiment during World War II. He was wounded in action in Dieppe on August 19, 1942 and then became a POW at Stalag IX-C, Arbeitskommoando NR 1249, Bad Sulza, in Thuringia, Germany. Walter was released on May 16, 1945. BLUM, Aloysius “Al” WWII Al was born in Saskatoon in 1914 and the family moved to the Nipawin area in 1927 to farm in the Sunnybrook district. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and served as a Sapper during World War II. Al was married to Helen Thom and he died on October 17, 1958. BOECHLER, Andrew John WWII Andrew joined the Army and served with the Edmonton Fusiliers during World War II. After five years in the Army, he was a steam engineer with the Dairy Pool. He was also a member of and Past President of Spiritwood Legion Branch 182 in Saskatchewan.
