He enlisted in the Army in 1940 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment until he was wounded at Forêt-de-la-Londe in France. Private Bell died at Taplow Military Hospital two weeks later on September 13, 1944 and is buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery near London, England. BENJAMIN, Earl Richard WWII Earl joined the Army during World War II and served as a gunner with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was killed in action on May 22, 1943 at the age of 31 and is buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery in Surrey, England. Earl was the son of William and Violetta Benjamin of Gainsborough, Saskatchewan. BERTHOLET, Louis J. WWII Louis was born in 1916 in Cantel. He enlisted in the Army in the fall of 1942 and served in the 4th Division in Normandy, France. He went overseas in 1944 and was taken prisoner on August 2, 1944. Louis was liberated on May 9, 1945 from Stalag IVD by the Russian Army. He was discharged on September 6, 1945.
