The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 57 BECKSTEAD, William Noel WWII William was born on July 6, 1926 in Creelman, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and was part of the mustard gas experiments in Suffield during 1945, suffering residual effects all his life. He lived in Toronto for many years helping his mother Josephine take care of his father Alfred. He then remained to take care of her, allowing both of them to spend their last days at home in Langley, British Columbia. A few years after his mother passed away, William died on August 25, 1992 in Langley. William never married and may have been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Langley or Toronto. BEEDLE, Duane RCMP Duane was raised in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1965 and served as a Constable until leaving the service in 1970. BÉLANGER, Léo WWII Léo was born in Île-à-la-Crosse, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on June 16, 1941 and was discharged on February 11, 1945. He was a Trooper in the 16th/22nd Saskatchewan Horse and the Fort Garry Horse, serving in Europe where he was wounded twice. Léo was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Normandy Medal.
