The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 479 WILMOT, Gordon WWII Gordon was born on December 8, 1919. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 12, 1941 and went overseas to England in 1944. He flew with Squadron 435 Transport in England, Africa, India and Burma. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Burma Star and the Overseas Medal. He was discharged on December 19, 1945. Gordon was a Life Member of Carnduff Legion Branch 216 before he passed away in 2011. WILSON, Ken Newzy WWII Ken was born in New Zealand. He joined the Air Force in 1938 at the age of 17 before the Second World War broke out. He maintained and repaired planes in England for the Air Force. In 1941, he was reassigned to India as a flight crew member on a cargo plane until 1948 when Ken purchased his release early from the Air Force and moved to Canada. A year later, he enlisted with the Canadian Air Force and served at CFB Moose Jaw’s 7 Hangar SNAGS as well as in Europe with NATO during the period of the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his retirement from the military, Ken continued to work in the civilian industry until 1983. He retired with his wife Mary to Gull Lake and is a member of Gull Lake Legion Branch 119. WILSON, Russell KOREA & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Russell was born on May 28, 1934. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1951 and served aboard HMCS Crusader in Korea from 1952-53. Russell worked on nine ships spanning a 28year career, retiring in 1972. Russell joined The Royal Canadian Legion in 1970.
