The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 45 BAILEY, Wesley Glenn WWII Wesley was born in Lavenham, Manitoba on January 20, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at age 18 and trained as an air gunner at Mont-Joli, Quebec. Shortly afterward, he was sent to England where he served as a Flight Sergeant with 434 Bluenose Squadron, based out of Tholthorpe in Yorkshire. After only three trips over enemy territory in the four-engine MK5 Halifax bomber, Welsey lost his life along with three other members of his crew, when their aircraft was destroyed by a BF 110 night fighter on the night of September 29, 1943. Wesley was killed in action near Munster, Germany and he is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. The navigator and the bomb aimer were the only survivors but they spent the rest of the war in a POW camp. BAKER (PARRY), Edith WWII Edith enlisted in the Army during World War II and served as a Corporal with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps. BAKER, James H. WWII James was born on May 28, 1919. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and served as Sapper during World War II. James passed away on May 28, 2002.
