The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 467 VANSTONE, Gordon William WWI Gordon was born in Wingham, Ontario in 1896. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on January 22, 1918 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was assigned to the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. During his service in Canada, he was granted a “seed leave” and a “harvest leave” to help out on the farm. Private Vanstone was given an honourable discharge on February 12, 1919 from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Gordon passed away in 1988. VASS, Andrew WWII Andrew was born in 1917. He enlisted in the Army in September 1939 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in France where he was wounded in October 1944, losing his sight in one eye. He was honourably discharged. Andrew passed away in 1978. VASS, Joseph P. WWII Joseph was born in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 or 1941 and served in Canada in the Queen Charlotte Islands and Marble Island. Joseph passed away in 1998.
