The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 465 UMPHERVILLE, Arthur Angus WWII Arthur was from the Glen Mary, Horseshoe Bend area. He enlisted in the Army and served overseas with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment during World War II. Arthur was killed in action on May 14, 1943 on the Hitler Line in Italy. UNSETH, Palmer WWII Palmer was born in 1924 in Govan, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada, England and France with the #6 Bomber Group, Tactical, Air Force – 144 Airfield. He has been a Life Member of Nokomis Legion Branch 290. VANDALE, William Alfred WWI William enlisted in the Army and served overseas with the 65th (Saskatchewan) Battalion, 46th Battalion (South Saskatchewan Regiment), 4th Canadian Division during World War I. He was killed in action in France during a violent engagement on February 13, 1917 on Vimy Ridge. He lost his life but the objectives were met by the divisions that he fought with, which were the Canadian Corps’ 44th, 46th, 47th and 50th Battalions. Under intensive bombardment of artillery and trench mortars, a Canadian raiding company helped meet the objectives by catching German prisoners and gaining valuable information on the enemy’s activities.
