The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 463 TOLLIFSON, Thomas Robert “Bob” WWII Bob was born on September 2, 1917 near St. Thomas in Pembina County, North Dakota. The family moved to the Millions School District northwest of Carnduff, Saskatchewan in April 1920. Bob joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and served as navigator on Halifax bombers with 427 (Lions) Squadron out of the Leeming Air Force Base in Yorkshire, England. Bob attained the rank of Pilot Officer on January 20, 1945 and completed 30 operational flights over enemy territory and returned home for a month’s leave on May 2, 1945. Since the war was over a few days later, it was not necessary to return for a second tour. Bob passed away on August 27, 1973 in Regina. TRUMAN, Edgar Ryckman WWI Edgar was from Carnduff, Saskatchewan. He joined the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles (Saskatchewan Regiment) and served as a Private during World War I. Edgar was killed in action on June 5, 1917 at the age of 29 and is buried in the Bois-Carré British Cemetery. TURNBULL, Alexander WWI Alexander enlisted in the Army during World War I and served in the Canadian Infantry. Private Turnbull was killed in action on October 8, 1916 at the age of 36 and he is buried at the Vimy Memorial in France.
