The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 455 STYLES, Gordon Wellington PEACETIME Gordon was born on January 6, 1927 in Penzance, Saskatchewan and grew up on his parents’ farm in the Penzance/Craik area. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1951 and trained as an Aero technician. He served in Winnipeg, Moose Jaw and Goose Bay, Labrador before returning to Moose Jaw. After 15 years of service and attaining the rank of Corporal, Gordon retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in Moose Jaw where he opened his own service station business. Gordon passed away in 1994. SUTTON, Nathaniel “Robert” WWI Robert was born on January 12, 1897 in County Cork, Ireland. He joined the British Army’s Royal Field Artillery in 1914 and saw active duty in the Mediterranean Force, in Turkey, Dardanelles and Salonika. While there, Robert contracted malaria and cholera and was hospitalized in England. He was discharged in 1919. He received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He came to Canada in 1920 and to the Semans district in 1926. Robert married Doris Felton in 1935, had a family of three and farmed until he passed away on January 12, 1961. He was a member of Semans Legion Branch 108 for many years and was President during that time. SWEETING, Gordon WWII Gordon was born in 1918. He joined the Army and served in Holland with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Gordon survived the war and was stationed in Holland when he stepped out into the road and was tragically hit by a vehicle on September 13, 1945. He is buried in Holland.
