The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 443 SPEECHLY, John M. BOER WAR John joined the Army and served with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse during the Boer War. Later, he was Postmaster in the village of Parkside, Saskatchewan for forty years. SPEERS, Frank WWII Frank was born in 1918 in Semans, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, England and at Dieppe where he was wounded. Frank passed away in 2001. SPENCER, George William Jones WWII George was born on November 10, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on May 15, 1942 and served as Able Seaman on HMCS Cougar and HMCS Quatsino as well as at HMCS Queen and HMCS Naden. He was discharged on October 11, 1945. George was a Life Member of Carnduff Legion Branch 216 before he passed away on July 30, 2005.
