The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 435 SIM, Robert Edwin WWII Robert was born in Gap View, Saskatchewan in 1917. He enlisted in the Army in Vernon, British Columbia in July 1941 and was overseas from 1942 to 1946. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium and Holland with the 11th Canada Infantry Brigade, the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and the 5th Canadian Division. Robert attained the rank of Corporal. After the war, he returned to farming in the Handsworth, Saskatchewan area and was a member of Stoughton Legion Branch 133 for thirty years before he passed away in 2001. Robert married Mabel Wall in 1942. SIMPSON, Mark WWI Mark was born in England in 1886 and enlisted at the start of World War I. He served in France with the First Canadian Mounted Rifles of the Saskatchewan Regiment. Mark was reported missing on or near May 6, 1916 and was later presumed dead. His body was never recovered but his name is inscribed at the Menin Gate Memorial in France and on the Nadeauville Monument. SINNETT, Lawrence Edgar WWII Lawrence was born on the family farm in Sinnett, Saskatchewan on June 20, 1919. He married Louise Kowalski on October 29, 1940 and enlisted with the Regina Rifles on May 16, 1942, serving 39 months in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. His rank was Signalman and his service unit was # 3 Spec. Wireless. Lawrence was discharged on September 4, 1945 and upon returning home from the service, bought half a section of land that he farmed until he retired in 1983. Lawrence also owned and operated a backhoe in the Kenaston area for over 22 years. He was an active member of Kenaston Legion Branch 240 for fortyfive years before he passed away on July 18, 1990.
