The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 425 SCHULER, Emanuel WWII Emanuel joined the Army during World War II and served in France, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Germany with the 15th/22nd Saskatchewan Horse, Lord Strathcona’s Horse. SCHULER, Merlyn Antone “Tony” PEACETIME Merlyn was born in 1941 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent 27 years in the Army, which included jumping seven times while in the Air Force before being injured. He did four tours in Cyprus and received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. Merlyn was an office clerk and was promoted to Master Warrant Officer. He trained in the Mojave Desert and spent three years in Norway and Germany. When Merlyn retired, he worked as a condo manager in Victoria, British Columbia from 1986-1989. He then moved to Calgary and worked for Condo Management from 1990-1994 before Starting Accredited Condo Management Ltd in 1994, a business he ran until he sold it to retire in 2006. He then moved to Meadow Lake where he was a member of Meadow Lake Legion Branch 76 for six and a half years. Merlyn passed away on January 29, 2013 in Mazatlan, Mexico. SCOTT, Andrew WWII Andrew was born in Palo, Saskatchewan in 1919. He joined the Army and served in France, Belgium and Holland with the 110th Battery, 15th Canadian Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery (Armoured), 4th Armoured Division. Andrew drove the tank carrying the officer who was spotting for the Artillery battery. He drove the same tank from Caen to VE Day. Andrew was one of seventeen recipients of the Member of the Order of the Bronze Lion for Gallantry, given by Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands and he was a member of Landis Legion Branch for twenty-five years before he died in 1970.
