The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 421 SANDERS, Alfred John Jr. WWII Alfred was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan on October 21, 1921. He enlisted in 1940 with the Canadian Dental Corps and went overseas in 1941. He returned to Canada on January 1, 1946. Alfred passed away on June 3, 2000. SARGENT, Charles Ernest WWI Charles enlisted in the Army during World War I and served in the Canadian Infantry, Saskatchewan Regiment. Private Sargent was killed in action on July 29, 1918 and is buried in the Duisans British Cemetery. SARICH, Ronald Lynn “Ron” PEACETIME Ron was born on January 16, 1950 on a farm near Davidson, Saskatchewan. During his 4th year of university, he enrolled in the military ROTP program as an Aerospace Engineering Officer. On his first posting to CFB Cold Lake, he had too many CF-5 and CF104 back seat trips and decided to cross-train as a pilot. His first posting after “Wings” was to CFB Portage la Prairie as a CT-114 Musketeer instructor. Subsequently, all his operational flying was on the CP-140 Aurora at CFB Greenwood. He did one tour with 415 Squadron and two at the Maritime Proving and Evaluation Unit (MP&EU). Ron retired during his last tour at MP&EU for a second career with Transport Canada.
