The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 405 RICHARDSON, Frederick Michael “Freddie” WWII Freddie was born in 1917 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on June 14, 1940 and served as Warrant Officer II with the Regina Rifle Regiment in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. Freddie was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He ran the family farm and the Post Office in Lacadena, Saskatchewan for 23 years. Freddie was a member of Lacadena Legion Branch and Eston Legion Branch 155 for a total of fifty-three years before he passed away in 1993. RIGHETTI (THOMSON), Jean Marion WWII Jean was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England on October 7, 1918 and moved to Canada as a child. She joined the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force in December 1941 and was promoted to Section Officer in 1942 with a posting to No. 6 Manning Depot in Toronto. Jean was stationed in England in Middleton, St. George as Section Officer in 1943. In 1946, while still stationed in postwar England (Leeming), Jean met Paul Righetti. They were married in Winnipeg in November that year. Paul and Jean farmed in Odessa, Saskatchewan then Paul’s return to teaching took them to several oneroom school houses, and later to Montmartre and Davidson. They had five children. A talented artist, Jean was active in the communities in which she lived, including at Montmartre Legion Branch 279 and Davidson Legion Branch 51 where she was a member for 22 and 44 years respectively. She passed away on June 11, 2009. RIGHETTI, Paul Adam WWII Paul was born in Odessa, Saskatchewan on May 25, 1922. He trained on Tiger Moth, Wellington and Bolingbroke planes in Brandon, Regina, Fort William and Portage la Prairie and served overseas mainly as a bomb aimer. He flew over 600 hours with 74 different pilots at the controls (in Halifax II, V, VII and in Lancaster I and II). In 1946, while still stationed in post-war England, Paul met Equipment Officer Jean M. Thomson. They were married in November that year in Winnipeg. Paul and Jean farmed in Odessa then Paul began teaching. He was a Principal in Montmartre and Davidson. They had five children. Paul passed away on April 9, 2011. He was a member of Montmartre Legion Branch 279 and Davidson Legion Branch 51 where he was a member for 22 and 44 years respectively.
