The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 35 ARNST, Arthur Frederick WWII Arthur joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in November 1942 and served as Leading Aircraftman with Bomber Command and 416 Spitfire Squadron in the United Kingdom and Germany. Arthur was discharged in March 1946. ASHDOWN, Kenneth Raymond WWII Kenneth was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1923. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on May 18, 1943 at HMCS Unicorn in Saskatoon and was at HMCS Cornwallis from July 11. Kenneth served as Stoker 1 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and on the high seas on HMCS Beaver, HMCS Stadacona and HMCS Peregrine. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. Kenneth was a member of Melfort Legion Branch 30 before he passed away in 2005. ASKWITH, Dorothy WWII Dorothy was born in Saskatoon in 1924. She joined the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada from 1939 to 1945. Dorothy was a member of St. John Bosco CWL for many years and was also a member of the Métis Local #165. She was a recipient of the Governor General Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 as well as the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal in 2005. Dorothy died in 2012.
