Six brothers from the Munro family were members of the Canadian Armed Forces: George, Allan, Peter, Arthur and Robert enlisted between 1940 and 1943 and John enlisted in 1949, prior to the Korean War. George was the first son to join the Army in January 1940 and he embarked a month later for Europe. He served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps as a Corporal. George died in 1993. MUNRO, Gerald Hill PEACETIME Gerald was born on September 22, 1928 in Saskatoon. He enlisted in March 1954 and served in Canada as a Leading Aircraftman until leaving the service in 1966. Gerald married and became a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. MUNRO, John Duncan KOREA John was born on December 8, 1928 in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. Six brothers from the Munro family were members of the Canadian Armed Forces: George, Allan, Peter, Arthur and Robert enlisted between 1940 and 1943 and John enlisted in 1949, prior to the Korean War. John joined the Canadian Navy and served as Chief Warrant Officer First Class aboard HMCS Athabaskan during the Korean War. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1976 and passed away in Victoria, British Columbia on May 16, 1980.
