The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 345 MONDY, James “Hiram” WWI Hiram was born in 1897 in Alva, Oklahoma and his hometown became Paynton, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army during World War I and served in France with the 46th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, Saskatchewan Regiment. Hiram was wounded on January 4, 1917 and killed in action two months later on March 30 in a raid on enemy lines in preparation for the major operation at Vimy Ridge. MONGOVIUS, Douglas W. PEACETIME Douglas was born in Saskatoon on June 16, 1953. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 2, 1971 and left the service on September 11, 1974 as a Private. Douglas married and has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. MONGOVIUS, Wilfred O. WWII Wilfred was born on February 6, 1922 in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on June 19, 1943 and served in the Tank Corps in Canada. Private Mongovius left the service on June 12, 1946. He married and became a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362.
