The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 327 McGEE, D. J. WWII D. J. McGee was born in Saskatoon on March 21, 1922. He enlisted in the Army in March 1941 and served in the Royal Canadian Engineers until leaving the service in March 1945. He married and became a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. McGILL, Warren Melville “Mel” WWII Mel was born in 1924 in Paisley, Ontario. He joined the Merchant Navy and trained at HMCS New York on a gunner ship that was located on the Exhibition Grounds in Toronto. He served on the high seas on HMCS Qu’Appelle. After leaving the service in 1945, Mel was a guard at a prison in Ontario. In 1952, he came to Saskatchewan where he worked on oil rigs in the Estevan area for 35 years. Mel was a member of Frobisher Legion Branch 343 for thirty years before he passed away in Estevan Hospital in June 2007. McGOURLICK, Don WWII Don enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 405th Squadron during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for gallantry in the performance of his duty.
