The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 307 MACKAY, Gustavus WWI Gustavus was born in 1880 in Edderton, Rosshire, Scotland. He enlisted on March 16, 1916 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and France with 214 Overseas Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. He was wounded in France on October 11, 1918. Discharged on April 10, 1919, Sgt. McKay received the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the IBC Badge. Upon returning to Semans, Saskatchewan, he found that his business partner had absconded with everything. He started again from scratch and became a successful businessman in Semans. Gustavus passed away in 1962 and had been a member of Semans Legion Branch 108. MACLEAN (WOTHERSPOON), Marion WWII & PEACETIME Marion was born in January 1922 in Melville, Saskatchewan. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Regina on August 3, 1943 and served in there in the Supply Section. She was discharged from the service to return to civilian life on July 9, 1946. Marion was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. It is uncertain if she has been a member of Melville Legion Branch 61. MACLEAN, Wilson Gordon “Mac” WWII & SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Mac was born on June 8, 1920 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army and served in the Artillery in Canada and on special assignments in Europe, including Paris and Italy. He served 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring in 1967 with the rank of Warrant Officer in Regina, Saskatchewan. Mac was a member of Melville Legion Branch 61 for several years before he passed away on November 10, 1984.
