He enlisted in World War I and was in the Battle of Ypres where he trained horses for the Army. John brought an English bride back to Canada and they settled in Saskatchewan’s St. James area on Soldier Settlement land for a few years. They moved to the Pathlow area and John passed away in 1962. LOOKER, John Henry WWII John was born on August 27, 1918 in Hazlemere, England. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served as a Private in World War II. He served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. When John left the Army, he moved to Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan with his new bride Phyllis to start his life as a farmer. John was a member of Pleasantdale Legion Branch 227 before he passed away in August 1997. LOW, James Alexander WWII James was born in 1919 in Girvin, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in Regina in the Canadian Engineers in January 1942 as a Sapper. He was stationed in Ottawa before being sent overseas to serve in England, France, Holland, Belgium, Poland and Germany. James finished the war with the rank of Sergeant and Acting Sergeant-Major. He came home in January 1946, disembarking in New York. James was a member of Legion Branch 10 for twelve years before he passed away in 1972.
