The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 287 LARSON, I. H. KOREA I. H. Larson was born on April 20, 1930 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in January 1950 and served in Korea as a Leading Seaman. He left the service in December 1955. He married and became a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362. LAVALLEY, James WWII James was born in Marieval, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army during World War II and served with the Regina Rifle Regiment as a Rifleman from 1941 to 1946. He served in United Kingdom, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. LAWRENCE, Marshall Vernon WWII Marshall was born near Delia, Alberta on March 12, 1920. His family later settled in East Coulee near Drumheller, Alberta. In 1939, he joined a company of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and on January 1, 1943, was posted to Theale, England with the RAF, EFTS. In January 1943, he was posted to Bournemouth, Riccall. Flight Officer Lawrence was shot down over Aachen on his 26th sortie as a pilot on the Halifax III aircraft. He became a POW in Stalag Luft III and was a guard during The Great Escape. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for bringing back many crippled planes back safely. Marshall was discharged in October of 1945 and made Regina his home. He was President of the CAA and he passed away on April 8, 2008. Marshall was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion.
