The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 281 LAIRD, Edwin George WWII Edwin was born in 1923 in Verwood, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army during World War II and served as a Sigman with the 1st Division in Italy, Sicily, France, Holland and Germany. Edwin has been a member of Prince Albert Legion Branch 2 for fifty years. LALIBERTÉ, Émilien WWI Émilien was born in Green Lake. He joined the Army on January 18, 1918 and served at the 1st Depot with the Saskatchewan Regiment. LAMB, Neil Graham Milne WWII Neil was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on April 4, 1924. He tried enlisting in the Army when he was 17 but was turned down. As soon as he graduated, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada, England, France and Germany with 297 Squadron. On one of his missions over France in May 1944, his plane was shot down and he was reported missing in action. The French underground hid him and assisted in his safe return to England in August 1944. Neil received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 193945. After the war, he farmed until 2007 then moved to the Marsden Seniors Complex where he passed away on November 6, 2008. He was a member of Legion Branch 70 where he served as President and Zone District Commander. He was also a member of Neilburg Legion Branch 135. Neil spent a total of fifty years in The Legion.
