The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 249 IRELAND, Gerald Garnet “Gerry” WWII Gerry was born in 1912 in Condie, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 as an Airframe Mechanic A and his first posting was at Base Trenton in Belleville, Ontario. He was sent to Alberta and British Columbia for training during his time serving in Canada until the war ended in 1945. With his wife and baby daughter, Gerry moved to the prairie village of Abbey, Saskatchewan where he was a member of Abbey Legion Branch 222. He was also a Legion member in Biggar and Dauphin, Manitoba before his death in 1992. IRELAND, Leonard George WWII Leonard was born on February 2, 1920 in the Workman district. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 21 and was an escort pilot across the Atlantic. He served for four years during World War II. Leonard was a member of Carnduff Legion Branch 216 before he passed away in 1995. IRVINE, Allan E. WWII Allan was born on September 10, 1923 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 28, 1942 and completed training as a navigator in November 1944 but was never called back after post-training leave. He left the service on January 15, 1945 and was awarded the Air Navigator’s Badge. Allan has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362.
