The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 223 HAWTHORNE, James L. WWII James enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served with the 2nd Division, 8th Reconnaissance in Britain and fought all the way to Germany in 1945. He came home in June 1946. HAWTHORNE, Robert WWII Robert enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940. He served with the Seaforth Highlanders, South Alberta Regiment and the Winnipeg Rifles. Robert was discharged in July 1945. HAY, Carl WWII Carl was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Antitank Division in December 1941. He served overseas in England and Italy and volunteered to serve in the Pacific before he was discharged at the end of the war. Carl was the sixth and last of six siblings to enlist in World War II. Vaughn, Jack, Harold, Charles, Carl and Ken and Carl all served their country between 1940 and 1945. Carl passed away in 1991.
