The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 219 HAGGETY, Julius “Jules” WWI Jules was born in 1892 in Woodmountain, Saskatchewan. He was drafted into service on November 16, 1917 and served in the Army during World War I. HALEY, Charlie WWII Charlie joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada and England during World War II. HANCOCK, George “Harvey” WWI Harvey was born in Amherstburg, Ontario and moved to the Glen Adelaide (Cannington Manor) area with his parents in 1914. He enlisted in Estevan, Saskatchewan at 18 years of age on January 17, 1917 with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. When his training at Camp Aldershot in Nova Scotia was completed, there was an outbreak of diphtheria in the camp so they that to wait to be shipped overseas. Harvey was with the 249th Battalion, serving in Canada, England and France. He was in Le Treport Field Hospital in September 1918, suffering a gunshot wound to the thumb. After being discharged on March 25, 1919, he resumed farming in the Glen Adelaide district where he married Alice Mayor and raised a family of eight children. He later retired to Arcola, Saskatchewan and died on June 20, 1968. Harvey was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
