The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 211 GLAZIER, Douglas Laverne WWII Douglas was born in 1929. He joined the Army in 1944 and served with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and the Regina Rifles until his discharge in 1945. GLAZIER, Hugh Leslie WWII Hugh was born in 1924. He joined the Army in 1941 and served as a dispatch rider with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry until his discharge in 1946. GLOVER, Jim S. WWII Jim was born on March 21, 1905 in McGregor, Manitoba. He married Marguerite McNabb of Craik, Saskatchewan on September 30, 1925, had six children and was working at a grain elevator in Craik when he enlisted in the South Saskatchewan Regiment in 1939. Jim trained at Camp Shilo and went overseas in the fall of 1940. He was in the Battle of Dieppe in 1942 and received four gunshot wounds in the arm on the way out of Dieppe. He was hanging on to the side of a boat holding up one of his comrades to keep him from drowning when he was wounded. He spent 21 days in a British hospital and had scars on his arm for the rest of his life. After moving into Belgium, Holland and Germany with the South Saskatchewan Regiment, he was discharged in Regina. Jim was a member of Davidson Legion Branch 51 before he passed away on December 19, 1966 at his home in Davidson. He died before the “Dieppe” Medal was issued but had he lived, he would have been entitled to one if he had applied.
