The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 191 FIELKOWICH, Anthony “Tony” WWII Tony was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan on August 15, 1922 and died on November 21, 2007 in Powell River Hospital. He served for six years in World War II, in England, France, Germany, Normandy, The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. Shortly after being discharged, he went to Texada Island to work for Blubber Bay Quarry where he was employed for 46 years. He then moved to Gillies Bay, British Columbia where he retired. Tony was a Life Member of Texada Legion Branch 232 for more than fifty years and the Texada Elks Lodge #355. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the George VI Medal and was most proud of the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. FILBEY, Dale Elmer WWII Dale was born on February 12 1923. He joined the Canadian Army’s Infantry on November 25, 1943 and served in Europe during World War II. Lance Corporal Filbey was awarded the 193945 Star, the War Medal 1939-45, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Dale was discharged on February 5, 1946. FITZPATRICK, Douglas Roy WWII Douglas was born in 1927. He enlisted in the Army in July 1945 and trained in Regina, Dundurn and Vernon, British Columbia. By the time his training was completed, the war was over. Douglas was a member of Carnduff Legion Branch 216 before he passed away in 2003.
