The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 187 FERGUSON, John PEACETIME John enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1958. He served as a Leading Aircraftman and was discharged in 1963. FERGUSON, Leon WWII & KOREA Leon was born at Duck Lake. He joined the Army on June 17, 1941 and did his basic training at Camp Borden, Ontario before going overseas in November 1941 where he served with the 22nd Regiment. He was discharged from the Army on February 28, 1946 but decided to re-join when the Korean War broke out. Leon served with CASF WMR/Special Forces from December 1951 and returned from Korea in 1952. He then re-enlisted in the Regular Forces where he remained until 1972. He was 62 years old when he retired, saying, “Goodbye tension, hello pension.” His service included Scotland, England, Italy, Holland and Korea. After retirement, he decided that gold and fishing were his priorities. Leon was a proud Métis who served his country. FERGUSON, Robert McCall WWII Robert was born on October 11, 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1942 in Hamilton, Ontario and served in Europe on a Bren gun carrier with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. Corporal Ferguson was discharged in 1945. He passed away on January 7, 1993.
