The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 169 DUNAJSKI, Francis WWII Francis was born in 1919 in Muenster, Saskatchewan. After graduation, he went to Normal School in Regina to become a teacher after which he taught in the district of Bethune until he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served with 10 Squadron in Canada and England. He was killed in action in 1942 at Kiel Canal in Germany. In recognition of his service, Dunajski Lake in northern Saskatchewan was named after him. DUNCAN, Walter Edward WWII Walter was born in 1917 in Rosetown. He enlisted in the Merchant Navy in May 1942 and served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the 22nd Field Corps of Engineers and the 20th Company. DUNFORD, Pearson B. WWII Pearson joined the Army in World War II and served with the 1st Canadian Infantry Division in Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. In Italy, he rescued a dying dog and took it all the way to Holland where he gave it to a scared little boy. In Holland, he would also sneak food for starving families he had met.
