The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 131 CÔTÉ, Joseph Simon Fernand “Fern” WWII Fern was born on August 24, 1925. He was a Canadian citizen but joined the U.S. Army because he was too young at 17 to enlist in the Canadian Forces. Fern was a Private serving as a truck driver under General George Patton. He passed away on March 11, 2010. COTTON, Robert Norval WWII Robert enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served with the Maisonneuve Highlanders during World War II. Master Corporal Cotton left the service in 1975. COUNTRYMAN, Allan Ellis “Al” WWII Al enlisted in the Army in the fall of 1941. He took basic training in Regina and advanced training in Red Deer, Alberta. The service unit was mobilized there and they proceeded overseas in August 1942. Allen was in the B Unit. The first camp was Bramshot, Surrey and in April 1944, the tank transporters were disposed of and they received Mack Diesel 10-ton lorries. In July 1944, the Company landed on the beach in France at Courcellessur-Mer. Allan served with the 69th Canadian General Tank Transport Company in France.
