The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 99 CAMPBELL, Donald N. WWII Donald was born in 1919. He enlisted in Nipawin in 1939 and served as flying instructor on all types of aircraft from Tiger Moth biplanes to Lancaster bombers. He was Squadron Leader and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Towards the end of the war, he ferried bombers from Canada to England and continued instructing in Britain, graduating the Empire Central Flying School of the Royal Air Force. Leaving the service in 1946, he returned to Nipawin, designed the local airfield and ran Nipawin’s first air service. He eventually became Chief Pilot and Supervisor of Saskatchewan Air Ambulance and later wrote a book relating his experiences on many mercy flights throughout the province. Donald passed away in 2001. CAMPBELL, Douglas Gilbert WWII Douglas was born on April 1, 1922. He joined the Canadian Infantry in 1941 and served as a Corporal until his release in 1946. Douglas passed away on June 3, 1997. CANADA, Jack WWI Jack was born on October 22, 1890. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914 and served as a Sapper with the 107th Battalion. He was discharged in 1918. Jack passed away on October 4, 1932.
