The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 71 CLARK, John Arthur “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Veregin, SK in 1924 and attended high school in Yorkton, SK. He joined the Army in 1940 and served overseas with the 64th Battalion. After his discharge in 1945, he entered the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK. He had many careers over his life: Pioneer grain buyer, PFRA surveyor, H.B.M & S in Flin Flon, potash miner at Saskatoon, Esterhazy and lastly, at Colonsay. Being civic minded, he was Mayor of Viscount, director of S.U.M.A., and a minor sports coach in Viscount, SK. He also played semi-pro baseball, coached senior and junior hockey and enjoyed golf, an all-time favourite, after he retired in Saskatoon. Jack raised four children with his wife, Shirley. Jack died in 1992. CLAVELLE, Alfred “Fred” WWII Fred was born in Viscount, SK in 1916 and took all of his schooling at Golden Hill School, just south of Viscount. He joined the Army and took his military training at St. Jérôme, Québec. After his discharge, he took up farming and married Rose Faso, raising four children plus one foster son. Fred and Rose lived and worked in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He passed away in 1987. CLOUTHIER, Ronald WWI Ronald was born in England but came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Flying Corps and served in Canada, England and France. He then farmed at Valley Plain before going to Manitoba in 1922. He has passed away and is buried in Manitoba.
