The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 59 BRASH, Robert D. “Bob” WWII Bob was born in the area of Meacham, SK. He attended York School, west of Meacham, and farmed with his dad prior to enlisting in the Army in 1943. After serving overseas, he was discharged in March 1946 and continued farming until he retired. Bob and his wife, Evelyn, then moved to Saskatoon, SK. He also drove a school bus for ten years. Bob and Evelyn raised a family of three sons. BRIER (nee DAOUST), Ida WWII Ida, the oldest child of Albert and Bertha Daoust, was born on November 8, 1924 in Viscount, SK,. She grew up on the family farm and took her elementary schooling at St. Alphonse in Viscount. She joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served in Canada for the duration of WWII. After the war, Ida married Jim Brier on June 29, 1946 and they raised two girls. They lived and worked in Winnipeg, MB until they retired to their cottage at the lake, close to the city. BROTEN, Roger PEACETIME Roger was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan on November 20, 1934. He enlisted for the Korean War in Regina, SK in 1950 and was sent to Rivers, Manitoba before going to Korea in 1952 and serving as a paratrooper with the Medical Corps. He made 22 jumps. Roger passed away in October 2002 in California, USA but he is buried next to his father at the little country cemetery of St. John’s Lutheran, north of Viscount.
