The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 451 YOUNG, William Allan “Allan” WWII Allan was born in Viscount, SK on October 5, 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on March 20, 1942 and served as a Flight Officer in Canada and England. Discharged on August 20, 1945, Allan was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-45 Star. He farmed in the Viscount area until he retired to the Village of Viscount. He was a member of Viscount Legion Branch 271. Allan had two children with his wife, Gwendoline Webster who was with the Women’s Auxiliary, RAF. Allan passed away in Lanigan Hospital on April 12, 2007. ZEBEDEE, Gilbert Wellington WWI Gilbert was born on February 7, 1890 in Belleville, Hastings County, Ontario. His father, James Zebedee, homesteaded from 1906 near Guernsey, Saskatchewan. Gilbert was a farmer from Plunkett, SK when he enlisted in Watrous, SK on December 5, 1916 and he was single at the time. He served overseas during World War I and was killed in action after March 1917. ZIMMER, Gustaf “Gus” WWII Gus joined the Army and served in World War II. He stayed in the Forces until his discharge in 1948. He then operated a TV repair service and raised one daughter with his wife, Gwen Paulett of Plunkett. The family moved to Barrie, Ontario where Gus lived and passed away.
