The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 447 WRISTEN, Roy C. WWII Roy was born in Montreal, QC but came to Viscount, SK as an infant with his widowed mother. They returned to Montreal for ten years then came back to Viscount, where his mother remarried and they lived on a farm. Roy was very mechanically inclined. He joined the Army on February 13, 1943 and served as a Corporal with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Canada and England. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Roy raised ten children with his wife, Elizabeth Russell. Roy’s two sons, Bill and Gordon, enlisted in peacetime. After his discharge on April 5, 1946, they continued to farm until 1963 when Roy was forced to sell because of health problems and they moved into Viscount. Roy was a member of Viscount Legion Branch 271 and he passed away on April 4, 1983. WRISTEN, William Arthur “Bill” PEACETIME Bill was born in April 1939 in Viscount, SK where he took his early education and excelled in sports. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served during peacetime. After his discharge, he obtained his engineering degree and is now head of the computer science department for National Research in Ottawa. Bill married Pat and had two sons. YOUNG, Christopher Ronald “Chris” KOREA Chris was born in Viscount, SK where he also went to school. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950 and saw active service in Korea. His brother, Allan, and sister, Rachel, (Mrs. Carl Moen), had also enlisted. He married Helen Hardy in 1952 and they had two children. Chris then switched to the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served until his retirement in 1975. He lived in Edmonton, AB and worked with RCMP communications.
