The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 409 TETZLAFF, Norman Leo WWII Norman was born on April 11, 1920 in Viscount, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939, as did his brother, Otto, while his other brother, Andrew, joined the Army. Norman took his military training in Brandon, Ontario then was stationed in St. Thomas and Kingston, ON. He served in Canada as an Aeris Machine mechanic and was discharged in 1945. Norman took his mechanic training in Saskatoon and worked for the New York Central Railroad for 30 years as a yard switchman. He raised four children with his wife, Lovella Mellor. Norman died in 1993. TETZLAFF, Otto WWII Otto was born in Viscount, SK around 1922 and grew up in the Lucasville area where he took his schooling. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada and after the war, farmed for a bit then went into real estate, his true calling. Otto married Jeanine and they raised one daughter. He passed away in 1992. THIEMANN, Arnold WWII Arnold was born on February 15, 1920 in St. Gregor, Saskatchewan and he went to South St. Gregor School. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served in World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he worked in BC’s bush for five years and then farmed near St. Gregor, working in the bush during the winter for a few more years. He married Antonia Helmink and had four children. The family moved to north of Viscount to grain farm once more and to raise pigs. They then moved into Humboldt where Arnold worked in construction until he retired. He died on September 8, 1989.
