The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 405 TAYLOR, William “Bill” WWI Bill was born in England and came to Canada in the spring of 1914. He then joined the Army but was discharged because of heart problems. His twin brother, Harry, also enlisted and served in World War I. Bill first worked in Saskatoon at Quaker Oats until 1922, when Bill, Harry and their mother moved to a farm north of Plunkett, SK. Bill married. Bill served at the Air Force base at Dafoe until after the Second World War Armistice. He then lived in Saskatoon until he passed away. TELFER, Andrew Black Craig WWII Andrew was born on November 27, 1916 in Shevlin, Manitoba and was the oldest of three brothers who went to war. His brothers were Gordon and Robert. Andrew joined the Army in 1939 and served in England, Holland and Belgium with the Yorkton Anti-Aircraft Battery. He was discharged in 1946 and then worked many years on the CN Railroad as a decks and bridges foreman. His next job took him to Fort Nelson, British Columbia, where he was the town foreman. From there, he retired to the farm he and his wife purchased at Clayhurst, BC, not too far from Dawson Creek. He was a member of Legion Branch 63 in Saskatoon, SK and in Dawson Creek Legion Branch 141 in BC. He died on January 14, 1987. TELFER, Gordon WWII Gordon served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He enlisted in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and served with the North Saskatchewan Regiment in numerous camps in Canada and overseas until the end of the war. After the war, Gordon worked for the Canadian National Railway.
